Patented process to create dynamic iridescence pictures

Implementation with a

substrate transparent

In a broad way Chromescence® involves two microstructures separated by a transparent substrate.

The substrate

The substrate separates the two microstructures and allows iridescence, creating a parallax difference to both eyes.

In practice it may be any transparent kind il peut être de toute nature transparente (plastic, glass, air, water) depending upon the application needs.

The two microstructures reproduction

In its simplest application the microstructures are distorted vertical lines.

They can be reproduce on both sides of the transparent substrate by any type of processe, including:

  • offset printing
  • silkscreen
  • hot stamping
  • engraving
  • sandblasting
  • gilding
  • molding

> Chromescence® can be implemented on any type of transparent substract with existing processes.

Note that Chromescence® can operate on flat surfaces and curved surfaces.

 

Using a lenticular material

A particular implementation involves a lenticular material in place of :

  • the transparent substrate
  • one of the two microstructures

Depending on the observation angle

our eyes see different luminosities.

 

Thereby two microstructures separated by a transparent substrate

in accordance with Chromescence process

create the iridescent image of our choice.

SIZES

There is no typical value for

- the lines width

- the substrate thickness

which also depend on

- the viewing distance

 

The consideration of these three interrelated parameters allows the process to adapt to the specific conditions of each particular application, regardless of its scale.

 

Usually, the application requires :

- the viewing distance

- the substrate thickness

with what we calculate

- the lines width

 

Exemple: Label 150 µ

Viewing distance = 50 cm

Substrate thickness = 150 µ

> Lines width = 75 µ

 

Exemple: Label 300 µ

Viewing distance = 50 cm

Substrate thickness = 300 µ

> Lines width = 150 µ

 

Exemple: showcase (1cm glass)

Viewing distance = 200 cm

Substrate thickness = 1 cm

> Lines width = 1 mm
